Samsung is preparing a smartphone with curved screen for October

Samsung announced the launch in October of a high-end phone with curved screen, at a time when the world's leading manufacturer of smartphones try to keep the pace of innovation and their supremacy on a fiercely competitive market. The curved screens are an early stage in the evolution of these elements, which are passing or flexible designs that can be folded, which will eventually allow mobile phones and other devices take new forms that could radically change the smartphone market.

"We plan to introduce a 'smartphone' with curved screen in South Korea in October," said the head of strategic business advertising Samsung mobile phone, DJ Lee, in a ceremony held on Wednesday to launch the Galaxy Note Galaxy 3 and the expected Gear, Smart Clock in Seoul. However, the executive gave no details about the features and availability of the device.

Samsung, which has surpassed Apple as the world leader in advanced cell showed in January, at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, prototypes with a flexible screen that could extend from one side.

But technology companies have not managed to figure out how to produce parts on a massive scale in an economical and get panels that can be as thin as a sheet and very resistant to heat.

The curved screens are available commercially in large TVs. South Korean rival Samsung and LG began selling this year curved screens OLED TV for about $ 9,000.

As noted by The Wall Street Journal, some analysts point out that the development of a curved screen would be a first step towards flexible displays. Also launching a smartphone with these features could help evaluate user responses to this technology.

One of the challenges when Samsung to develop a flexible display on a massive scale was to make the display off completely waterproof, the same way they are the traditional glass screens.

Samsung not the only working on the development of technology. LG also seeks to develop flexible displays to incorporate into their devices, explained in April this year.
