Cats may possess the key to developing a vaccine against AIDS

Certain peptides feline immunodeficiency virus to stimulate T lymphocytes ( T-cells) for HIV in humans.

According to a study published in the Journal of Virology conducted by researchers at the University of Florida and University of California San Francisco , a protein of feline immunodeficiency virus is able to produce an effective immune response in human blood infected with human immunodeficiency virus ( HIV).

" In humans , some antimicrobial peptides stimulate immune responses that either do nothing or stimulate HIV infection , while other peptides have anti -HIV activity is lost when the virus changes or mutates to avoid such immunity ," said study author Janet Yamamoto.

According to the academic , some peptides feline immunodeficiency virus work quite well to stimulate T lymphocytes ( T-cells) to fight HIV in humans , so he said he hopes that the feline immunodeficiency virus can be used in the development of an effective vaccine against AIDS
