Taxi into space?

The idea of space as in "Little Trips" supersonic, or any other animation futurama or closer is no longer just science fiction and become real technology.

NASA plans to hold a seminar on August 12 in Houston to meet with companies interested in partnering to develop the service for commercial passenger space travel.

Some companies, such as Aerospace and Technologies Corp., SpaceX, Boeing Co., Aerospace Retro Tether Applications, or have already expressed their desire to participate. However, some have already stated that the budget offered by the space agency $ 50 million is "a bit disappointing."

The idea of 'taxis' space is long and not just to satisfy the whims of billionaires and eccentrics, but as a replacement for the outdated ferry NASA. United States withdraw its fleet of space shuttles next year. First, we conducted seven missions to complete construction of the International Space Station (ISS), which orbits about 360 kilometers above the Earth. Once carried out the work, the plan is to retire the shuttles and new modern vehicles that can travel to the space station, the Moon or other destinations in the Solar System.

NASA is ready to take advantage of the growing interest in space tourism, which plans to launch a new service for commercial transport of passengers of 'taxis' beyond the atmosphere. To develop your project, the space agency has announced it will invest $ 50 million from federal funds.

The first step to realize its ambitious initiative is to find companies aspiring to develop vehicles that will carry out the flights. The candidates, all Americans have 45 days to submit their proposals, which will be assessed competitively. Before the end of September, the best ideas will receive a prize.
